The Film to Highlight Malta is Jurassic World Dominion
The cast of the most current Jurassic Park film has gathered in Malta, a Mediterranean island with lots of sunlight.
Releasing On June 10, Valletta, Malta’s capital, will host a man vs dinosaur battle in Jurassic World: Dominion. Dinosaurs will pursue celebs Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard around Malta’s St. George’s Square.
Malta is making a welcome return to the big screen after years of playing major supporting parts in some of the most giant TV and film productions. This includes the HBO smash series Game of Thrones, which utilized the islands in various sequences, notably the wedding scene between Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen, with Malta’s Azure Window arch in the background.
Malta’s Fort Ricasoli, Valletta’s Grand Harbour, and Saint Michael’s Bastion’s Valletta Ditch were featured in Russell Crowe’s Oscar-winning picture Gladiator a few years ago.
Four years later, for the film Troy, starring Orlando Bloom and Brad Pitt, filmmakers repurposed structures like Fort Ricasoli to create credible portrayals of Ancient Greek Era surroundings. The latter actor is no stranger to Malta; he shot By the Sea in Gozo’s Mgarr ix-Xini with his then-wife Angelina Jolie and World War Z in Valletta.
While a significant amount of Apple TV’s Foundation was shot in Malta Film Studios in Kalkara, several scenes in season three of Netflix’s Queen of the South also feature local sites such as Fort St. Elmo and the Port of Valletta.
