September/October
After the steamy, scorching days of summer are passed, September ushers in a brief respite from the high temperatures and glaring sunlight as the mercury begins to fall. At the same time, the days are still long and sunny and chilly breezes and even the occasional cloud. It’s still warm enough to go to the beach, and the seawater is still over 25 degrees so that you can leave your wetsuit at home. Because the air temperature is between 25 and 30 degrees, you can still enjoy the beach, the pool, the countryside, and everything else that summer has to offer.
November/December
As the winter months approach, the temperatures begin to drop. Temperatures will range from 18 to 25 degrees Fahrenheit, with a chance of rain and windy weather. Despite the possibility of a few showers, they are among the most delightful months on the Maltese islands. The landscape begins to come alive, the skies become wild and magnificent, and the weather is ideal for trekking or exploring without becoming sunburned or overheated! Even though it’s a little chilly for the beach, you’ll see lots of residents and tourists brave the waters. Christmas is usually sunny, so many locals have their Christmas meal outside, even with a bit of a chill.
January/February
The first few months of the year are often the coldest, with temperatures ranging from 10 to 17 degrees Fahrenheit. Rain is more likely during these months, but don’t let that deter you! The lush greenery of the rolling landscape, as well as the big waves crashing against the spectacular shoreline, will take your breath away. The weather is ideal for wrapping up and strolling through some of Malta’s most captivating attractions.
March/April
You can truly sense that spring is in the air during March and April as the winter months begin to mellow. Temperatures are beginning to increase near 20 degrees, and sometimes much higher. It’s ideal to book a trip before the tourist season resumes. Some people even go swimming in the sea during these months, and while the water isn’t quite as warm as it is during the summer, it is often more generous than in most other places of Europe. With sunshine, mild temperatures, and the aroma of spring all about you, April is one of the most lovely months to visit Malta.
