Maltese Indigenous Wine Tasting in a 16th Century Cellar.
What we plan to do
Your Wine Tasting experience will begin with a quick tour of our historic house, built about 1580 and has many original features in our subterranean cellar. Our wine cellar is housed in a unique underground cavern that dates back to before the Great Siege of Malta in 1565. The cellar was part of an underground passage via which the Knights might flee in the event of an attack.
We begin our tasting of Maltese indigenous grapes, Gellewa and Girgentina. We’ll sample three wines: white, rosé, and red. We’ll bring some snacks to compliment the flavour.
Meet your host Dorian Cassar.
Dorian loves sharing his wine passion and always wants to expand his knowledge. Dorian has completed a Sommelier course with the Association of Italian Sommeliers (AIS) and produced and presented a Wine TV programme on the Maltese National television station TVM.
